Atelier Solenne sits between couture and ready-to-wear. Pieces are designed in Solenne's studio and produced in small ateliers in Paris and the Loire Valley. The aesthetic is severe minimalism — long, narrow, often architectural silhouettes; almost always black, ivory, or grey; almost always wool, silk, or linen. The atelier offers semi-couture (existing silhouettes adjusted to a client's measurements over two fittings) for about double the ready-to-wear price. The clientele is private and largely word-of-mouth. The atelier does not show at fashion week and has refused all wholesale.
Solenne Marchet trained at Studio Berçot in Paris and spent six years at a Parisian couture house before opening her own atelier in 2015. She designs from a small studio in the 3rd arrondissement and shows two collections a year to a private list of about three hundred clients.
