The House

Callesta Vento is built around two materials only — cashmere and silk — and twelve silhouettes that change very little year to year. The brand calls itself a 'wardrobe house' rather than a fashion house; the goal is for a customer to acquire pieces over a decade and end up with a complete wardrobe of investment basics that work together. All cashmere is Inner Mongolian, sourced from a single cooperative Gianna has visited every year since 2017. All silk is from a single Como mill. Pieces are produced in Italy in family-run knitting and sewing ateliers. The customer is most often introduced to the brand by another customer; the brand has no advertising budget.

Gianna Callesta

Gianna Callesta is the third generation of a Milanese family in textiles. Her grandfather imported cashmere; her mother ran a yarn distribution business. Gianna founded Callesta Vento in 2016 after a decade as a buyer at La Rinascente, where she watched the cashmere market collapse into commodity and decided to do the opposite.
